Air Dry Clay Gift Tags Tutorial

air dry clay gift tags tutorial

Today we have a little snippet from Merry Makings magazine and a fabulous DIY project from Ayda of Cafenohut! Aren’t they wonderful?

Supplies needed for clay gift tags tutorial

You will need:

•Air Dry Clay
•Rolling Pin
•Gold Pen or Paint
•Cookie Cutters
•Gold Thread or Twine
•Awl or Sharp Object to make small holes
•Little beads for added decorative interest

Roll out your clay for gift tags

Cut off a lump of clay from your packet and knead until it can be easily rolled out. Be sure not to knead too much as the clay can become quite sticky and will more than likely stick to your surface.
Use any choice of cookie cutter to cut your shape and carefully remove. Poke a little hole and set aside to dry. It’s quite common with air dry clay for the edges to be a little rough, you can smooth those with sand paper after it dries.

Doodle clay gift tags for christmas

Allow your tags to dry fully before you attempt to paint or you will destroy the nibs of your pen or your paint brush. Trust me! Once dry, decorate and doodle. Once paint or ink has dried you can use your gold thread to string up and add your little decorative bead.

This fabulous little painted pumpkin decor idea is from ‘it all started with paint’.

This made me laugh. Because number 1, it’s adorable and number 2, good luck with that! You might be safer turning them into ghosts by just putting some sheets of white tissue paper over the top of the cat. My cat loves that. I’m constantly being haunted. Especially if something I’ve ordered has been wrapped in white tissue paper! This adorable DIY is from My White Idea.

The Amsterdam sky line on a lantern! Fabulous! I love all of the houses in Amsterdam, they’re so high and slim. From ‘Look What I Made‘ blog.

15 DIY Tutorials for Autumn & Halloween

15 DIY Projects for Autumn and Halloween Gold Spooky Postcard by lovelyindeed
Welcome to this post! I hope you are feeling creative and excited about Halloween coming! I haven’t just included Halloween in here because it can be easier to add a few autumnal touches about the home as decor. Personally I don’t decorate for halloween, it’s not really a huge holiday over here. An excuse to get drunk and an excuse for kids to terrorise everyone (depending on where you live of course!)
I absolutely LOVE how gold and sparkly these postcards look, these have been created using gold leaf, which is why the gold is so lovely and bright. Such lovely handwriting too!
Autumn Flower Centrepieces DIY Tutorial

DIY Blood Candles Tutorial for Halloween

Aren’t these candles wonderful! I’m certain the original DIY came from Martha Stewart, but didn’t all the crafts that have ever been invented come from that woman? I saw the DIY on Ciloubidouille.

Spooky Bats In Pots Halloween Tutorial

This is a fantastic little DIY project for plant pots! I might even end up sticking bats in my regular plants. I just need to attach them to wire and poke them in the pot. I do have burlap but it’s a wide weave. I like this little display. Perfect for a kids party!

Autumn Bird and Leaf Wreath

Does your front door need to get a bit more autumnal? This wreath is a marvellous option! It’s so beautifully made. The birds and billy buttons just make it perfect!

10 Easy DIY Projects for Autumn

Easy Cork Coasters - 10 Simple DIY projects for Autumn/Fall
If you’re new around here, the first thing you need to know is that I am super lazy. If there’s a super easy craft or simple DIY project I am all over it! This first diy and featured a little later on in this post, it was from a cork board that was destined for the recycling center. I drew some leaves and made a template and simply cut them out of the cork to use as coasters. Done and done!

Crochet Doily Pumpkin DIY Project for Fall/Autumn

I love this image of a pumpkin covered in crochet doilies! It epitomises autumn for me. Allyson used a corn flour/starch mix so the ‘glue’ is only temporary and can be washed off. I find it an awful shame that people don’t eat all the pumpkins! Pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream is one of my favourites at this time of year!

Beaded Fabric Leaves Autumn/Fall DIY Tutorial

One of the reasons I chose this garland tutorial/diy idea was the tartan fabric used in one of the leaves! It reminds me of autumn; when I was growing up we had a red scratchy (wool), tartan blanket that came out at this time of year. Now I love tartan and herringbone fabrics this time of year and they are PERFECT for autumn crafts. View this lovely DIY over at Bobbi Levin’s blog and if you have a moment, take some time to donate to the Fistula Project in Uganda. Read all about the Fistula Project here.
